Description
Sierra Tequila Reposado is an original Mexican tequila. Sierra Tequila Reposado is made from the heart pieces of the blue agave species "Tequilana Weber", which belongs to the cactus family. The blue agaves grow on the high plateau around the "Destileria Sierra" in Atotonilco El Alto at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. Only after 8-10 years are the valuable blue agaves ripe and can be harvested. To harvest the heart pieces, the prickly leaves of the agave plant are removed. The heart pieces, which now look like a pineapple, are distilled twice according to old traditional methods in copper stills (alambiques). Only the distillate from this special species of agave, which grows in a carefully defined area in the Jalisco province, may bear the name "tequila", and the production takes place according to strict rules from the Mexican government.
